A homeless encampment is being set up at Danbury City Hall on Sunday. Former Democratic Mayoral candidate Lynn Taborsak says this is to raise awareness that time is running out to complete the Mayor's 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness and increase permanent housing units.
The encampment will consist of five tents set up from July 1st through the 15th. Taborsak says the Mayor should welcome this encampment because they are supporting his 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness. When it was crafted, the plan showed a need for 436 units within 10 years to house the homeless.
Taborsak says there were 8,633 bed nights from November through April at the Jericho House, First Congregational Church, the City Shelter and Dorothy Day House.
Participants may display signs and banners or distribute information about homelessness.
