Some road work started Thursday night on Route 53 between Bethel and Danbury. The state Department of Transportation says milling and resurfacing work will take place between 7pm and 5am Sunday through Thursday evenings with one lane of alternating traffic being allowed through during that time.
The nearly 5 miles of road being milled and paved is between the Redding/Bethel town line to Coal Pit Hill Road in Danbury.
The milling work is expected to wrap up by July 17th wand the paving portion will start on the 22nd. The state DOT says all of the work will be done by August 1st.
