All-day kindergarten won't be coming to Newtown this year. The full day program was planned in the original budget, but residents rejected plan after plan resulting in cuts to the education budget.
It took Newtown five referendum vote to pass a tax and spending plan for the current fiscal year.
The Board of Education and Superintendent said at this most recent meeting that in order to cover the some 230-thousand dollars, cuts to existing programs would be too massive. They will push for full day kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year.
