Danbury ushers in new store, playground with ribbon cuttings


On Wednesday, the Spring Street playground at Jericho Partnership's ministry at St Paul's Lutheran Church.  Jericho Partnership executive director Carrie Amos says parents who now keep their children indoors away from the drugs, prostitution and other problems will now have a safe, enclosed, playground.  The 50-by-50-foot playground is being carved out of a half-circle driveway and sloping, walled lawn.

 

ALDI opened it's first Fairfield County store on Newtown Road on Thursday. 

 

Mayor Mark Boughton says progress is being made for Union Savings Bank's move down Main Street to the old site of the Police Station.  The replacement branch should be opened by the middle of this month.  A community health center and some senior housing are also planned for the site.

 

Danbury Library is looking to expand into the space the bank is vacating.  The interim director hinted at program space in the annex and an internet cafe.

 

Pilgrim Furniture has announced they are filling the old Linens N Things space on Federal Road in the near future.
