CARMEL, N.Y. (AP) A man has been sentenced for the second time to at least 25 years in prison for the rape and murder of a 12-year-old New York girl.
Anthony DiPippo was first convicted and sentenced in 1997 in the death of Josette Wright of Carmel. An appeals court ordered a retrial after finding that DiPippo's lawyer had not disclosed a conflict of interest.
At the retrial, DiPippo's ex-girlfriend testified again that she saw DiPippo and another man rape the girl and leave her in the woods.
On Friday, DiPippo was sentenced to 25 years to life for murder and eight and one-third to 25 years for rape. That's the same sentence he received in 1997.
Putnam County Assistant District Attorney Christopher York said it's as if the appeal never happened.
