Some Connecticut residents have been deployed to Florida as Hurricane Isaac moves closer to land.
Four American Red Cross volunteers left on Thursday including Glenn and Lindsay Kaminsky of Sherman. They will serve as Shelter Supervisors in Tampa. 3 more volunteers were deployed yesterday including Pat Scharr of New Milford who will serve in an administrative capacity in the Tampa operation.
American Red Cross spokesperson Paul Shipman said 108 Emergency Response Vehicles have been placed on alert nationwide to support the 22 already in Florida.
He says residents in affected areas are being urged to prepare for the storm, but noted that this is an excellent opportunity for people here to check their own readiness. It was nearly a year ago that Tropical Storm Irene hit Connecticut.
