Crews will be on the scene today going through the rubble at the house that exploded due to a gas leak in New Milford. One man was killed, Anthony Fratino Jr. His son, Nicholas, was injured in the explosion Wednesday night. The 9-year old is reported to still be in critical condition at a Boston hospital.
John Wilkinson, who lives in the house with his family, was also injured.He is being treated at a burn unit at a Bridgeport Hospital. There are reports Wilkinson had been working on the home and a tankless water heater was installed at the home hours before the explosion.
Wilkinson sent his two sons to a neighbors house when he smelled the gas. Wilkinson's wife was at work.
A candlelight vigil was held last night in remembrance of the man and the two people injured. More than 350 people gathered to show their support for the two families who had been devastated 24 hours earlier.
