A ground breaking ceremony was held Friday afternoon in Ridgefield for The Prospector. It's a 3-screen movie theater being built as a reconstruction of a 1940s movie theater, which was once used as a bank.
The Planning and Zoning Commission gave the final go-ahead this summer for plans. The land had been purchased by the Ridgefield Library for $2.5 million for their current expansion project, but some residents objected to the old building being torn down.
The ground breaking was at the Prospect Street site.
