HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Connecticut Democrats are using this weekend's fundraising visit from Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan to fire shots at two GOP candidates, accusing them of supporting the congressman's proposals to overhaul Social Security and Medicare.
In a conference call Friday, the executive director of the Connecticut Democrats, Jonathan Harris, said Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon and 5th-District U.S. House candidate Andrew Roraback, have tried to paint themselves as moderates. But Harris said their actions show they're more in line politically with Ryan.
Ryan is visiting the state on Sunday for presidential campaign fundraising events in West Hartford, Darien and Greenwich. Neither McMahon nor Roraback are attending. Campaigns for both candidates said they will be busy campaigning.
Steve Obsitnik, the 4th District Republican candidate, will attend the Darien fundraiser.
