The 10th annual Connecticut Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service is being held Sunday by the Connecticut State Firefighters Association Memorial Foundation.
The State Fire Administrator says the service provides firefighters with an opportunity to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty and made an unforgettable and brave sacrifice.
Two men are being honored: George Marshall Sanford of Redding and Patrick Brennan of Norwich. Sanford was a former fire chief and firefighter with 50 years' experience who collapsed and died of an undetermined medical issue as he hauled equipment to the scene of an April brush fire.
Sanford was 67.
