The Unified Neighborhood Inspection Team held a meeting recently with the Police Chief and others to discuss complaints of lewd behavior near Chestnut Street Extension now that classes are back in session. The meeting reported to the City Council Thursday night also included the property manager for Colonial Apartment, patrol officers, West Conn Police and University officials.
While the behavioral complains have returned, speeding has decreased now that a speed bump has been installed.
UNIT reported that a plan of action was established where communication between Danbury and West Conn Police along with the property managing company would be ongoing as incidents occur. The managing company of Colonial Apartments will exercise their right to evict tenants that are cited or charged by the Police, as well as violate the bylaws of the complex.
UNIT reported that that seems the logical step toward improving the neighborhood. UNIT will continue to monitor and track complaints in the area near the midtown campus.
