A former Danbury man who signed his neighbor's name to checks owned by the neighbor has pleaded not guilty to forgery and larceny charges.
Police say 31-year Brian Firzpatrick, who now lives in Wolcott, allegedly wrote out checks to himself and signed his neighbors name. 25 checks were made out totalling more than $10,0000. The neighbor told police that he didn't realize what happened until the bank called because he hadn't yet received his account statement. He noted that Fitzpatrick took the checks from the middle of two checkbooks.
Police say Fitzpatrick told officers that his neighbor had a drinking problem and made out the checks for him.
He is being held on bond and will be back in court on the 18th.
