There were two fires in Danbury over the weekend, one where the occupants started fighting with firefighters. The Red Cross is helping two adults and one child after a fire on Elm Street on Sunday.
The other fire happened Saturday afternoon on Ridge Road. Police say 56-year old Matthew Cimino threatened to kill firefighters who found a shotgun in his bedroom, where the fire started. The man has a criminal record and is not allowed to own a weapon.
He allegedly assaulted the firefighters who extinguished the small blaze and also had to subdue the man until police arrived. No firefighters were injured.
Cimino was charged with interfering with the duties of emergency personnel, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, refusal to be fingerprinted and threatening.
