Police: Parking dispute leads to violent threats

MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) Police say a woman in south-central Connecticut threatened a neighbor with a knife over a parking dispute at their apartment complex, threatened to shoot residents and police, and to blow up or burn down the building.

Meriden police say the 48-year-old woman was arrested and will face charges.

They say they responded to calls about 3:30 p.m. Friday about the dispute and tried to talk to the woman but she refused to open her door, turned up her stereo, threatened them and others, and said she had a gun.

Residents were evacuated from the building, the power was turned off to her apartment, and a SWAT team was contacted. She eventually opened the door, and was taken into custody.

Police say they found no firearms.

Bond was set at $500,000.
