Man killed crossing highway after basketball game

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Authorities say a 20-year-old Connecticut man was killed while crossing a highway in New Jersey after Thursday night's UConn men's basketball game against Duke in East Rutherford.

East Rutherford police Chief Larry Minda said that the unidentified man was struck and killed on Route 3 around 10:35 p.m. They were coming from a game between the teams at the IZOD Center.

Minda says another 19-year-old Connecticut man was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Two other pedestrians crossing with them were not injured.

No charges were filed against the 35-year-old driver and police were still investigating.
