Ex-prison guard pleads guilty to sexual assaults

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) A former state correctional officer whom authorities suspected of raping several women in Hartford and New Britain has pleaded guilty to four sexual assault charges and faces 15 to 40 years in prison.

Thirty-one-year-old Kelvin Grisales agreed to a plea bargain Thursday in New Britain Superior Court. He is set to be sentenced Aug. 13.

Grisales was charged last year with sexually assaulting a woman in Hartford. Authorities say he was linked to another assault in Hartford and two more in New Britain through DNA testing. Police would eventually charge Grisales with more than 20 crimes including sexual assault and kidnapping.

Grisales was a guard at the Hartford Correctional Center. He was placed on administrative leave after he was first arrested and was later fired.
