HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Officials have announced that a new contractor has been selected to finish Hartford's beleaguered Dunkin' Donuts Park and construction work is expected to resume next week.
Arch Insurance senior vice president Patrick Nails says Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. will finish the yet-to-be-completed home of the Hartford Yard Goats, the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.
The Baltimore-based contracting company has extensive experience in building and renovating sports venues, including work on the home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens as well as a project at Baylor University in Texas.
The 6,000-seat Dunkin' Donuts Park was supposed to open in time for the start of the 2016 season, however cost overruns and construction issues delayed the project.
The delays resulted in the termination of the project's developers in June.
