WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Federal agents have raided offices at the West Haven Housing Authority and one of its apartment complexes, and the mayor is calling for all Housing Authority commissioners to resign.
The FBI removed boxes and filing cabinets from the authority's office yesterday and also searched the rental office at the Meadow Lands Apartments. FBI officials declined to comment.
Mayor John Picard released a statement saying he didn't know the reasoning behind the raids but adding that federal Department of Housing and Urban Development has been investigating the Housing Authority's finances. He says town officials have been talking with HUD authorities since December.
Picard says he's requesting the voluntary resignations of the authority commissioners.
