WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) Metro-North Railroad's president is set to meet with commuter advocates as the rail line continues to seek improvements in operations and its image.

Joseph Giulietti, president of the rail line, is to join members of the legislature's Transportation Committee and Connecticut Commuter Rail Council at a forum on Thursday.

John Hartwell, vice chairman of the Commuter Council, said commuter advocates are eager to hear what Metro-North is doing to restore safe, reliable service.

The railroad had two derailments last year, one in New York City that left four passengers dead and another in Bridgeport that injured dozens. In September, a power outage limited Metro-North service, forcing thousands of passengers to find alternate ways to get to New York.

The forum is set for 7 p.m. at the eastbound Westport station.
